Surgent Professional Education Scholarship

As a 30-year leader in professional education, Surgent understands how important high-quality continuing education is to accounting and tax professionals. We’re proud of our in-depth course catalog and the impact it has made on accounting and tax professionals all over the country.

One of our most important goals as a company is to maximize career growth opportunities from the time our customers choose to enter the field of accounting until the day they retire. To support that ambition, we developed the Surgent Professional Education Scholarship for future professionals currently on the path toward entering the field of accounting.

The Surgent Professional Education Scholarship is open to any currently-enrolled business students working towards an accounting major and currently attending an accredited college or university within the United States. Three winners will be chosen for this scholarship. First prize will receive $1,000, while two runners-up will receive $500 apiece.

1st place: $1,000
1st Runner-up: $500
2nd Runner-Up: $500

ESSAY QUESTION

All applicants must submit an essay (1,000 words or less) answering the question below:

• In your own words, describe the differences between management accounting and financial accounting, as well as why both are crucial to a successful business?
  

ELIGIBILITY

• Applicants must be a current student at an accredited college or university within the
  U.S.
  

• Applicants must be studying to become an accountant
  

• Applicants must have a minimum 2.8 GPA
  

• Applicants must submit a copy of their transcript
  

DEADLINE

The deadline for the 2017 Surgent Professional Education Scholarship was July 1, 2017. Winners will be notified on August 1, 2017. Please watch for information on our 2018 scholarship this fall.
